5 Traits that Every Virtual Assistant Must Have

Work from home, Virtual Assistant

Virtual Assistant is highly recommended for any entrepreneur or start-up company who like to maximize their time in an effort to make more money, for as we know, there’s this saying that is “time is money”.

While many people nowadays are not satisfied by just having one job, most people find their way to depend on what is the trend right now, and that is squeezing in the online business and establishing a business there. I remember having my first gig as a virtual assistant, I have a stumbled upon a client that’s a nurse and during his off days, he’s an Amazon seller and a health blog writer.
We may never know there are many things that are happening and when in a blink of an eye, there are certain tasks that we may have overlook from our day to day routine.

This is where a virtual assistant takes over.

Virtual Assistant not just make your tasks easier and help you with your business, they often also help you organize your life in your busy days, and they always take care and took over about the job and doing it well done. They can do almost all administrative tasks that you can delegate to them, if you’re lucky enough to find a talented VA, they can even make you a website from scratch.

But it’s not about just hiring a Virtual Assistant can instantly make your life like a king and earn your prospected clients, it’s not that easy. Sometimes, there is also some virtual assistant that you would like at first and then, in the long run, they will make your task worst rather than make it easier. Sometimes some aspiring VA, lie about their said experience and when it comes to work, they don’t know what to do. The sad thing about it is, there’s really nothing you can do about it, one thing you know, they got paid for doing nothing. Online is a cold harsh world, you must watch out for that kind of person.
In this article, I will discuss some of the traits that a Virtual Assistant must have and what employer should look out and take observance to.

1.    Punctuality – As it is a “virtual assistant” everything is done “virtually” you can’t expect him to report on some physical place of meet-up or office just to check out whether he/she will work for the day, they only thing you can do is to monitor it thru chat. I and my boss back in the days use Skype and Google Hangouts to check out with each other, a late over a minute will cost me an hour of cut from my salary. So what I do is login ahead of time of work. Punctuality is one of the traits that a virtual assistant must have to see if you can measure his/her dedication at work.

2.    Honesty – “Honesty is the best policy”. Indeed, working remotely from your employee will really test the waters about honesty. One thing you know, your employee is watching TV while putting his feet on his keyboard. You can observe their honesty towards work by giving them daily goals to achieve so that you will know what is his/her perspective towards the work.
3.    Courteous- Courtesy is also one factor that you should look out for an aspiring VA. In that way, you can measure his/her attitude. Observe if he/she is addressing you or endearing you in a proper manner like using sir/madam. Besides, you’re still the boss.

4.    Persistence – It is okay if your hired VA doesn’t get the goal for about a week or so, it’s normal. Nothing is learned in an instant, but if you noticed that your VA isn’t doing any improvements for about a 2 weeks and above, it’s time to talk and take some necessary action to address the problem. It will cause you to harm your business if you let it through.

5.    Enthusiasm – you must observe and always catch up with your VA if he/she is enjoying and having fun in the job. You must know that as because in that way it all depends on the productivity that your VA will provide you towards your task or work. You should keep your employee happy even though you work apart so that you can gain his/her trust and tame his/her attitude. In the end, it’s a win-win situation for both of you.

Yes, I know hiring Virtual Assistant is a trust issue at first, but you may never know. For me, the best way to have a best Virtual Assistant is to treat him/her in the best way like you really see him/her physically. Reach out with each other like you both know each other for about a year and you will gain the best result in the long run.
